The Dancing Body: A Site for Research is the latest in a series of publications spotlighting the critical work and research of third-year students from London Contemporary Dance School just as they embark on careers as artists.
The magazine captures the students’ works presented at ResLAB, an event where third-years presented their works, enabling readers to re-experience the performances presented on that day. It’s part of a wider collaboration, which saw our founder Katie Hagan deliver a workshop with the students earlier on in the year about finding their artistic voices.
The writings and articles are structured into themes including identity, selfhood and dance’s role as a positive tool for good, as well as writings from the students themselves. Everyone has a voice in the magazine.
As an independent publication that magnifies the voices of artists working at all stages of their careers, we are delighted to collaborate with London Contemporary Dance School to celebrate and amplify their graduating artists.
The Dancing Body: A Site for Research follows previous year’s editions including Forging Paths & New Narratives and Embodied Dialogues.
