This autumn Richard Chappell Dance (RCD) presents three different works in London and Exeter that highlight the company’s ethos to share innovative productions, develop emerging talent, and take dance to spaces outside the theatre.
On 7 September RCD’s new outdoor creation Land Empathy will be performed as part of Greenwich & Docklands International Festival (GDIF) at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Building on the company’s climate activism film Heart Land, this new show features two dancers, original sculptures and a pulsating score to weave a powerful narrative that helps foster climate consciousness and convey a passionate message of urgency for the future.
RCD went ahead with the creation of Land Empathydespite not receiving core funding. As an independent company, they’d really love your support, so do head to GDIF next month to attend this free event. Find out more here.
Audiences outside of London will be able to experience AMPLIFY, a new mixed bill, coming to Exeter Northcott on 18 September. Celebrating the relationship between dance and music, AMPLIFY shines a light on the choreographic voices from dancers in the company. The bill features work from brilliant dance artists including I am a problem by Simone Donati, SPLICE by Ekleido and an extract from RCD’s Land Empathy. Book here.
Following its UK tour Hot House will make its London Premiere on 1 October at The Place. A passionate response to the cost-of-living crisis where protest becomes party, Hot House invites audiences to consider how the impact of the crisis can be turned into a defiant celebration of collective resilience.
