LAZARUS is an inclusive event for London’s queers, creatives and misfits that unearths the creative potential of queer clubland.
Its first event at Grow Tottenham last year was a sold-out night of eclectic immersive art and performance. Now LAZARUS is back with an equally queerphoric event on 9 April at Werkhaus, Brick Lane.
The second iteration of LAZARUS will be an evening of underground music and immersive performance, showcasing some of the most foremost musicians, DJs, dancers, choreographers and collectives.
“The clubbing experience at LAZARUS felt very welcoming: it is rare to experience such a comfortableness in the London club scene, which can be highly intimidating. To find such a safe haven to dance, sing, and overall express oneself in a crowd of likeminded individuals is truly important.” – Lulu Vicedomini, UNKANNY Magazine
Confirmed line-up for the evening is:
A new durational performance/installation piece by London/Paris Art Collective PENTHOUSS, accompanied by soundscapes from interdisciplinary A/V artist ANNA LANN.
A debut of new live project ILLYR SAMUEL by Dazed 100 dancer, choreographer and musician Illyr and former Somerset House studios resident JACOB SAMUEL.
Immersive DJ sets by internationally acclaimed artist, DJ and producer METARAPH and the iconic queer Leeds-based DJ collective RAT PARTY.
Music will be accompanied by London Nightlife’s finest – GoGo Dancer REENIE and Poet and Performer KAIDEN FORD. EMMA BALEBED, a
performing artist and dancer, will also debut an experimental movement piece.
LAZARUS founders – choreographer, composer and Sadler’s Wells Young Associate MAGNUS WESTWELL, and composer, producer, director and artificial intelligence artist MALTHUS will perform new work, including unreleased material and a new performance from Malthus’ upcoming debut EP Countrycide (May 2022, Littledoom), and a movement and sound piece by Westwell, performed by acclaimed dancer MAX COOKWARD.
The event will take place at the Werkhaus, which
features a best-in-class Funktion One sound system and a high-spec lighting rig operated by esteemed lighting designer JOSHIE.
